A Rare Breed

There are approximately 8,000 registered Icelandic Sheepdogs in the world and less than 300 in Canada.

Viking Dogs

It is thought that ancestors of the Icelandic Sheepdog arrived in Iceland after having accompanied the Vikings when they set sail from Norway and the surrounding Scandinavian countries somewhere between 874 and 930 A.D.
